ABOUT ME!

HOWDY!

My name is Shae (They/She)! I’m a musical theater performer, designer, and technician born and raised in the suburbs of Dallas, Texas. Despite my parents’ best efforts to fashion me into a rocket scientist or an NCAA athlete, I have known that I wanted to be an artist since I was 7-years-old. It was at this age that I noticed my friends starting to adopt extracurricular interests—particularly dancing—so I hopped on the bandwagon! After learning how to point my toes, I went on to dance competitively with a team of girls my age until my freshman year of high school and continued training in-studio until the day I left for college.

While in the dance world I was starting from scratch, I was certainly no stranger to theatre. Some actors joke about being Tree #3 in their first performance… I was dancing foliage in every summer camp production until my 5th-grade production of The Wizard of Oz when I was cast as the Wicked Witch of the West (paint her green?). I may not have been able to act or sing my way out of a paper bag, but I loved being onstage. After Oz; it was voice lessons, school plays, and talent shows, oh my! Musical theatre encouraged all of my passions to meet in the middle. One BFA from Rider University later, I still feel as though I’m looking at the stage through rose-colored glasses.

Along the way, my creative interests have expanded offstage to behind the table. Whether I’m paying my dues as an actor or as associate choreographer/dance captain, props designer, carpenter, painter, or light operator; I value my backstage artistry just as much as my onstage artistry.

Let’s create together! I’ll talk your ear off about Irish folklore, interior design, and my Letterboxd watchlist. Trust!
